Hello All Trifamers;

Received the following emails from Mr.Trevor(the holder of Singapore youngest IM) at SAC & 'Alex' the Seamonster ;

A....From Trevor @ http://www.studentadvisory.org.sg/overview.html

Hi all, I’m organizing a short 10km swim this year. Nothing flashy, just bedok jetty there, to gay beach and back, on the 16th of November.

Anyone keen to join in? Attached is the form. Can you guys help me spread the word if possible?

Student Advisory will also be organizing a 20km swim next year in April, similar to our previous batam to Singapore swim but a different format. Should response be overwhelming, the current 10km swim will also be used as a qualifier for the function. Hope to hear from you and to join us, if anything, call myself or vincent at 67787701.

Cheers
Trevor Xie

B...From the Seamonster ;

Hi Swimmers, Take a look at this. It is a open water swim organised by the Student Advisory Centre. They have a 2km,5km and 10km events. It is a charity event so swimmers are require to raise a minimum amt to participate. I will advise all swimmers to seriously consider this event, regardless of the distance you'll be participating in,its good training. Safety is quite good from my experiences in the earlier races.

I did the 10KM Charity swim two years ago, a personal kayak is attached, so do not wori if U could not sight properly, just make sure the kayak stays beside U at all time to direct U.

Since I can't go for the IMWA now, I may consider to do this again IF I could recover in time , but of course with the advise from my Doc.

Trevor would write out a swim training programne for all, to make sure U are able to do it once U singned up...Believe me, no way U fail, I tool 4.45 hrs to come back, as usual, last one to return.

Go for the 10KM!!

Do consider if U are looking to test what U think U cannot do !!!

U are welcome Junior !!!

If U could do 7km in the pool, 10km Charity swim should not be a problem at all for salt water is easier to float, there will be a personal kayak attached , U can put whatever things U needed in the kayak being the energy drinks, water, gels, I even put in there a 'float' just incase I got cramp in that long swim...hehehee...

It is not how good Ur swims are, but how strong Ur mind is !!!

It is basically a 'MIND' swim than a competition , don't even think that U are in the competition , just relax n be ur ownself, U would be surprised that a 10km swim is not that difficult after all.

A cut-off time was not given to Us but of course, we just need to keep moving, change swim styles accordingly if u needed to although I used mostly front-crawl throughout the 10k swim to prevent cramp....N once U have done this 10km swim , what is any swim distance below 10Km, Ur mind would be at the top !!....Thats was why I dare to go again the 6.5km Kapas Island ocean swim after that.

And U are hitting two birds in one stone, '' Train Ur Mind n Help the Needy '' !!....Tku vm to all!! cool.gif

that workout kills!

we are required to raise $500 to be able to participate. i would like to join the cause but i don't think i can raise that huge sum of money.
